My 10 year old daughter is currently being prepped for Speed SATS testing and the pressure is clearly taking its toll, as all the children are being worked extremely hard, she is unwell and exhausted off school again today.
So I thought I’d write some tips for how to support this process both physically and emotionally.
Lead by Example
Be calm yourself and proud and positive however they may think they will do, tell them that they can only do their best.
Encourage them to talk about their feelings and maybe even reward their efforts whilst always giving lots of encouragement
Let them have quiet time to read and play and limit electronic devices which further stresses the adrenals especially before bed
‘Head-space’ is a great meditation app that can be down-loaded for kids

If possible try to include a good quality protein, boiled eggs are great with whole-meal toast, or porridge with nuts and seeds and chopped banana or stewed apples.
Try Include crudités, hummus, fruit, oat-cakes, rice-cakes, unsweetened organic yoghurt, pasta and sweetcorn, organic chicken, olives, avocado etc
Magnesium is the calming mineral and reduces anxiety, put a cupful of Epsom salts and lavender oil in their bath at night, it’s also in brazil nuts, sunflower seeds (mix on cereal or hide and blend in pesto) leafy greens (hide in tomato pasta sauce)and lentils which can be mixed into bolognaise, flax oil can be added too
Also a transdermal spray can be used on the legs (Better You or I make one for a fraction of the price)
B vits are called upon and used up in stressful times, these are in bananas, nuts, seeds, fish, poultry, eggs etc
We need these as the body cannot make them, excellent for brain health and inflammation caused by stress
If they will eat tinned oily fish then great but if not (cytoplan) do a great lemon flavoured fish oil for children called ‘Lemo-oil’
Vitamin D is much needed for immune strength, a spray can be bought cheaply on amazon or e-bay (better you)at 1000iu
Probiotics also support immunity and gut-health; I like Pro-otic by’ Nutrigold’.
A good all-round multi is x2 capsules of British Multi per day by Nutrigold These contain all the essentials but good to top up with probiotics, vitamin D also.
These supplements are v good quality and more bio-available to the body, cheap vitamins are a waste of time and money and will not do a proper job
If you are struggling with fussy eating or transitioning your child as they move through puberty (This alone pulls a huge need for vitamins and minerals) please go to my web-site or contact me in person.
I hope you’ve found this useful!
